Shildon Amateur Boxing Club Est. 1903

Shildon Amateur Boxing Club was formed in 1903. To this day the club has continued to fulfill its mission of encouraging and supporting youngsters to achieve their potential through the discipline and art of boxing.Shildon ABC is the second oldest boxing club in UK.  The club has a well know reputation due to the calibre of the boxers we produce. The club has produced over 100 national finalist.

 

Boxing builds strength, fitness, discipline and courage along with promoting excellent self-defence and sportsmanship.

 

The skills required to become a talented boxer are taught and developed by the Shildon’s coaching staff which is headed by John Heighington. John has coached for over 35 years and is a well respected coach who has remarkably had 100 national finalists. John had his first champion – Andrew Ellison – in 1979 and has averaged three finalists every year thereafter.

 

Our club is affiliated to the Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) and all our coaches are ABA qualified and CRB checked.
