Our head coach John Heighington was selected by the Executive Committee of the Tyne Tees & Wear Boxing Association (ABA) to receive an award this week in honour of his 40 years commitment in boxing and training kids.

 

This is a fantastic achievement for John who recently turned 74 years of age.  John has been saying he is going to retire from boxing but is still continuing with his hard work and dedication to the gym and comes to train the kids 2 nights out 3 every week.   

Am sure the remarkable John Heighington will continue training the kids and producing boxing champions for another few years before he hangs up the body bag and pads. 

 

John would like to thank all the Shildon ABC Coaches and especially Steve Graham, Club Secretary for all their support over the years as he appreciates without their help the club wouldn’t be as successful as it is now.
